Aruna Shantha

My name is Aruna Shantha. I live in Payagala and I am 44 years old.

I got married to my wife Prasadika Lakmali in 2006, and we have one son, Malsha Sadewmina (2007), and two daughters, Vihari Wathsadi (2011) and Janvi Oneliya (2023). I am a proud Buddhist. My family is an important foundation in my life and supports me in all my work and activities. I do not drink alcohol and I do not smoke.

I know many beautiful places in my village of Payagala that can be visited, and I am happy to show them to the guests of Maggona Boutique Cottages. There are also many wonderful sights in Kalutara and Bentota, and I gladly drive guests to these destinations as well.

In Sri Lanka, I have visited several cities that are important to the Buddhist faith, such as Adam’s Peak, Horana, Kataragama, Anuradhapura, and Kelaniya.

I completed my naval training in India, after which I served with respect as an officer in the Sri Lanka Navy for more than 22 years. Today, I work as a tuk-tuk driver, and I truly enjoy this profession.

Through the PickMe app, I came into contact with Mrs. Erica from the Netherlands, the owner of Maggona Boutique Cottages. After our meeting, she asked me to become the permanent tuk-tuk driver for her resort, and I proudly accepted this role. It is a great honor for me to drive for her, as Mrs. Erica is a true businesswoman who manages the resort very well. I find the resort beautiful, with cottages in Indonesian style—a style that is unique and not commonly found in Sri Lanka. I will carry out this responsibility with my utmost dedication.

I understand how important it is to treat tourists with respect. People who use my services often recommend my driving style. I also offer reasonable rates and am happy to show you the most beautiful places in and around Payagala and Maggona.
